Merry Christmas to all!

It’s the end of a cold and quiet Sunday in Manchester. The pre-Christmas atmosphere is everywhere here, same as in many other places around the world. Our win against WBA on Saturday, the fourth victory in a row, gives us plenty of optimism and good feelings with a view to the last two weeks of the year. We are reinforcing something that I’ve been claiming since the start of the season: that the team has got potential and good football, and I’m sure we will keep showing that in 2017.

A week to get confidence

The week has passed very quickly. It’s quite usual when you play so many games with a few days difference, even more after the long trip to Odessa. As you know, we defeated Zorya in Ukraine, earning a place in the knockout stage of the Europa League, which was our goal.

December: a really important month

Today we could extend that feeling of anger and regret after the draw at Goodison Park. We could just say that it was a pity and how helpless we feel when important points slip away at the end of games that you think you deserved to have won.

Looking for the winning streak

It’s very late on Sunday night, but not enough time has passed to digest the draw against West Ham, to be honest. This 1-1 would be easier to take if it came after a winning streak, but this is not the case. A few days ago we beat Feyenoord in a good game. So far in the Premiership, though, we haven’t found that consistency.

We will soon be rewarded

I have the feeling that I’ve already written this entry before. Or, at least, a very similar one. That frustration after the final whistle is not new, unfortunately. Against Arsenal we played yet another game where I’ve felt that we did everything, or almost everything, to win and two points slipped away. The whole team did a great effort, we had chances, we were solid defensively, we were one goal ahead in the 89th minute… and we got a draw.
