The Red Devils, with Juan Mata as a starter, beat Tottenham (1-0) in a complicated match. The first goal came thanks to a ball recuperation by the spanish footballer.
Juan Mata started the 2015-16 Premier League with a win. Manchester United beat Tottenham (1-0) thanks to an auto-goal from Walker in which United’s number 8 helped to achieve it.Old Trafford, unlike last year, could see their team win on their first match. Juan played the whole 90 minutes and, as always, his mobility through the lines caused many problems to the opponent’s defence.
The Spanish footballer shared the offensive job with Depay, Young and Rooney. On the 22′, Juan intercepted a pass from Bentaleb and organised a vertiginous attack. The ball ended up in Rooney’s boots but as Walker tried to steal it, the ball went straight in his own goal, defeating Vorm. It was the one and only goal of the match, although Mata was very near to score his first of the season but his shot wasn’t quite on target.
Juan Mata’s ability with the ball was a constant pain for Tottenham. He suffered three fouls (the most in United) and left a couple of details worthy of seeing again.
