Manchester United trashes Leeds 4-0 in their second friendly in Perth. Mata started the game and wore the captain´s armband. The next appointment will be against Inter, at the International Champions Cup, next Saturday.
Manchester United, with Juan Mata in the starting XI, swept aside Leeds United 4-0, in their second pre-season friendly. The game was played at the Optus Stadium in Perth, same place as the first test in Australian soil. The rivalry between the two English teams added a bit of spice to the game.
Juan, as he did last Saturday against Perth Glory, wore the captain´s armband. Played the first half and was replaced at the break with the rest of the starting XI. And had the opportunity to meet again Pablo Hernández, with whom he shared changing room at Valencia. Mata had a similar role as the first friendly. He linked the midfield and the strikers and he was always offering a pass to his team-mates to play faster. He also forced the only Leeds´yellow card.
United goals were scored by Mason Greenwood (finishing a great collective play in the 7 min), Marcus Rashford (in the 27 min made the second with a stunning finish), Phil Jones (with a powerful header made the third in the 51 min) and Anthony Martial (from the penalty spot in the 69 min).
After closing the Australian tour with two victories in two matches, ManU will travel to Singapore to face Inter in the International Champions Cup, next Saturday.
