A special night in Oviedo with La Roja

Juan Mata y Santi Cazorla

The Spanish men’s national team returned to Oviedo to face the Czech Republic, securing another win that strengthens their position at the top of their Nations League group. Prior to kickoff, the Spanish Football Federation invited Juan Mata to step onto the pitch alongside Santi Cazorla to present the World Cup trophy in a deeply moving moment.

To a standing ovation from the crowd, Juan handed the trophy to La Roja captain Rodri Hernández on the pitch at El Tartiere. A World Cup winner in 2010, Juan was joined by his close friend Santi Cazorla—Real Oviedo icon and fellow former national team international. After presenting the trophy to the fans, both Mata and Cazorla stood by the Spanish bench for the national anthems.

Más que un detalle, un reconocimiento a dos futbolistas que suman 122 partidos con la absoluta. Días antes Jesús Navas había tenido el placer de hacer lo mismo en el estadio Sánchez Pizjuán de Sevilla.
