This Friday marks the 10th anniversary of Juan Mata’s debut in the Premier League. Since 27 August 2011, the Asturian has left several unforgettable memories in the best league in the world.
These ten moments shine in his exemplary career:
-27 August 2011. Chelsea 3-1 Norwich. Juan started in the Premier League in the best possible way. At his debut in the competition, in stoppage time, Juan scored Chelsea’s third goal. It was matchday 3 of the 2011/12 Premier.
-5 February 2012. Chelsea 3-3 Manchester United. Mata starred in a spectacular performance against the reigning Premier (and Champions League runner-up) champion. He scored a great goal assisted by Fernando Torres and set up for David Luiz in Chelsea’s third goal. In addition, an unforgettable save by David de Gea after a direct free kick prevented the Spaniard from rounding out his performance.
-20 October 2012. Tottenham 2-4 Chelsea. The London derby attended a recital by the Spanish international. He scored two goals (2-2 and 2-3) and assisted in Chelsea’s fourth goal.

-28 January 2014. Manchester United 2-0 Cardiff City. The day of his debut with the Red Devils. Mata assisted for the second goal netted by Ashley Young. On the rival´s bench was Juan’s current coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
-5 April 2014. Newcastle 0-4 Manchester United. Days after scoring his first goal with the ‘red’ kit (against Aston Villa, on 29 March), the Spanish player was brilliant at St James’ Park. He scored two beautiful goals in a fine display of quality and gave a heel pass that ended in 0-4.
-22 March 2015. Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United. Juan Mata led the win on Anfield, scoring both goals for his team. The second, a beautiful overhead kick, chose the best goal of the season by United fans.

-2 March 2016. Manchester United 1-0 Watford. An excellent free-kick by Juan in the 83rd minute gave his team the victory. A victory of great value. United’s number ‘8’ was decisive while he wore the captain’s armband.
-23 December 2017. Leicester 2-2 Manchester United. The Spaniard left his stamp at the King Power Stadium with two high-quality goals, especially the second, a stunning free-kick that went past Schmeichel. With a dedication to a solidarity project, the celebration remained an iconic image of that season.
-8 December 2018. Manchester United 4-1 Fulham. Mata stood out in the Red Devils victory with a goal and a decisive pass to Lukaku. He reached 50 goals and 50 assists in the Premier (now he has 51 and 64, respectively). Some round figures for a historical trajectory.
8 December 2018 (against Fulham): Juan Mata reached 50 goals and 50 assists in the Premier League Share on X-23 May 2021. Wolverhampton 1-2 Manchester United. On the final day of the 2020/21 Premier League, Juan Mata scored his last goal in the competition to date. A penalty, decisive for the result.
