Another disappointing draw

Manchester United drew with West Ham at Old Trafford (1-1). Juan, in the line-up and captain, stood out in the first half. Randolph avoided the local victory with a great performance.

Manchester United conceded two points at Old Trafford against West Ham (1-1). Again, drew a game in which they had enough chances to win the game. The Red Devils, under Mata´s captaincy, got in shock in the early stages of the game with a goal for the Hammers in the minute 2, but Ibrahimovic equalised in the 21 minute, and until the end ManU looked for the second goal insistently. In this context, the performance of the visiting goalkeeper, Randolph, was decisive.

Mata, started the game wearing the captain’s armband (in the colors of the rainbow, due to a campaign against homophobia in which the Premier League teams participated), completed a great first half. He was the player who generated more opportunities (three, same as Ibra), most of the crosses and who recovered most of the balls (five, the same as Lanzini). This last statistic shows Juan protagonism in defensive tasks, an aspect that sometimes is overlooked within his performance. On the other hand, he created the same opportunities in the first 45 minutes than West Ham.

In the second half, he did not have much room to stand out. He was substituted in the 65 minute and saw from the bench how Randolph frustrated the attempts of his team mates. West Ham and United will play again on Wednesday at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup.
