Juan Mata guides United in their second win in the US

The Spaniard scored the 1-0 against San José Earthquakes and was the figure in some of United scoring chances. The final score was 3-1.

Juan Mata is still a key player in preseason for Manchester United. The Spanish player scored the first goal in the victory of the English team against San Jose Earthquakes (3-1) at the Avaya Stadium. It was the second win at the International Champions Cup for United, after the first match against Club America.

As in the match against the Mexicans, Mata was in the starting XI. Van Gaal repeated line up and played a different team on each half. Juan opened the score in the first 45 minutes. In 32 minute, a strike from Mata after a pass from Young made the 1-0. Memphis Depay almost touch the ball, but the goal was awarded to Mata. United number 8 had a superb performance in his associations on the right with Darmian, their approaching to the area could have created more goals.

At half-time ,Van Gaal changed the players, leaving Mata out for Andreas Pereira. The American tour of the Red Devils will get more complicated matches: Barcelona (Saturday 25 in Santa Clara) and PSG (Wednesday 29 in Chicago). Two compelling evidences to check the progress of a team aiming to the maximum next season.
