In the final game of the last 16 of the FA Cup, Manchester United secured a place in the next round with a great victory at Stamford Bridge (0-2). Juan Mata started a game that was decided with the goals from Ander (minute 31) and Pogba (minute 45), and had an outstanding performance before his former team.
Juan faced Chelsea, club in which he left an indelible mark (32 goals and 58 assists in 135 games). He did it in the FA Cup, a tournament in which he has scored 10 goals and assisted 11 times. With this introduction, the Spanish international jumped on the pitch at Stamford Bridge wanting to be the protagonist. He moved through the center of the attack, acting as the conection between the midfield and the two strikers (Rashford and Lukaku). Participated in the build up of the 0-1 and was the most effective in the pass (90%), and caused many problems to the Chelsea´s defense. In addition, he forced Rüdiger’s yellow card.
In the 75th minute, Mata was replaced by Pereira. Both local and visitors fans gave him a warm applause. In the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, United will face Wolverhampton Wanderers but before that, next Sunday, United hosts Liverpool at Old Trafford on the Premier League. Another challenge for Solskjaer’s men, unstoppable in the Premier and the FA Cup (11 victories in the last 12 games in both competitions).
