Melbourne Victory achieved its first win of the season by defeating Perth Glory away (0-2). Mata started the game and scored the second goal of the match, his first goal in his new team’s jersey.
The Asturian had a very complete game, not only in attack. In addition to the goal, he created two clear chances, made five key passes and also contributed by recovering five balls. He was the most valued player of the match in the ‘Player Index’ offered by the television operator of the Australian League.
Victory started strongly and took the lead in the 11th minute through a fine strike from Jelacic on the edge of the box. In the 54th minute, Mata sealed the win with a composed finish from a great Grimaldi pass, celebrating his first goal for the club with the traveling fans at HBF Park.
