Mata played the second half of the match against Romania (0-0). An assist from him to Cesc could have changed the score.
Spain drew against Romania at Cluj (0-0) in a match in which Mata played some minutes of the second half. After being a starter against Italy in a very demanding appointment, Mata started this last match from the bench after Del Bosque’s rotations. He came in for Pedro on the 67′ and was positioned near the right wing although he moved to the centre in several occasions.
Juan participated in a game-play that could’ve been determining. A great pass from him to Cesc ended up with the Catalan falling in the rival box. Nevertheless, the ref did not whistle the penalty. After achieving another two caps with Spain (he has 40), the Asturian will come back to Manchester where a decisive stage of the season awaits.
