Juan Mata has been named A-League Player of the Month for December. The award, presented by the PFA (Professional Footballers Australia), recognises outstanding performances and comes from one of the country’s most respected institutions, with more than 30 years of history.
The Asturian midfielder topped the players’ vote, while Nepalese forward Sabita ‘Samba’ Bhandari claimed the award in the women’s category.
The PFA highlighted “Juan’s key role in Melbourne Victory’s resurgence, performing his duties as an attacking midfielder to perfection and helping the team secure three consecutive wins before the end of the year.” The organisation also underlined his four assists and the 34 chances he created during the month.
Critical acclaim for the Spanish maestro. 👏
