Juan’s goal broke Rostov resistance (0-1) and books a place amongst the Europa League best eight teams. The draw for the next round will be held this Friday. Mata reaches his tenth goal of the season for the fifth time since he arrived to England.
Juan Mata was once more decisive for Manchester United. Rostov held ManU to a dangerous 0-0 until the 70 minute, when the decisive action of the game happened. Mkhitaryan’s ball from the right was beautifully prolonged by Ibrahimovic’s back-heel pass and Mata finished from close range. The goal secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

It was a reward to ManU’s insistence as they had to score in order to avoid any surprise after the first leg result (1-1). Rostov just made pressure high in the last stretch but the local team had the control of the game most of the time. Apart from the goal, Mata was the protagonist in one of the best chances for United. In the 29 minute Juan assisted Mkhitaryan, whose shot went wide by little.

With tonight’s goal against Rostov, the Asturian reaches the 10th goal of the season for the fifth time in six years since his arrival to England. Really good numbers for a player that’s not a striker. This Friday, Juan and his teammates will know the rival for the quarter-finals.
