Comeback win extends unbeaten run

Juan Mata’s Melbourne Victory continued their impressive form with a commanding 4–1 home victory over Central Coast Mariners. The Asturian midfielder once again played a decisive role, scoring once and providing an assist to take his tally to five goals and 13 assists this season.

The visitors took the lead through Ngor, but Melbourne Victory turned the game around early in the second half. Velupillay marked his recent call-up to the Australian national team by levelling the score, before Mata headed home to make it 2–1 with his fifth goal of the campaign.

The hosts sealed the win in stoppage time, with Vergos finishing off a swift counter-attack and Davidson adding a fourth. Arthur Diles’ side are now unbeaten in seven consecutive matches and climb to third in the standings ahead of their clash with Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park on 5 April, following the international break.
