United book their ticket for Wembley

Mourinho’s men, despite losing to Hull (2-1), have qualified for the EFL Cup final thanks to their 2-0 triumph in the first leg. Southampton will be their opponents on February 26 at the legendary London stadium.

On February 26, Manchester United will fight for their second trophy of the season. The Red Devils, without the involvement of Juan, secured their place in the final of the EFL Cup, in which they will face Southampton at Wembley. United lost at Hull (2-1), but their 2-0 first leg win was sufficient to book their ticket for the decisive showdown. After defeating Leicester to clinch the Community Shield in August, Mata and his team-mates will look to lift another domestic trophy.

Juan will have the opportunity, for the first time in his career, to conquer a competition in which he has produced outstanding statistics. In 12 EFL Cup matches he has racked up five goals and five assists. Two of those strikes played a significant role in United’s run toward the final. Mata scored the goal which eliminated City and scored the opener in the first leg of the semi-final against Hull. In less than one month, on the Wembley pitch, he will look to be decisive once again.
