United held by Southampton

Juan stood out among the Red Devils and missed the goal by inches in the first half. He has started in the last five Premier League games. This Monday, January 1, ManU will visit Everton.

Manchester United drew at Old Trafford against Southampton (0-0). The Red Devils, with Juan Mata playing the full 90 minutes, attacked til the end in search of the winning goal, but the Saints resisted the local offensives and took a meritorious point.

Juan was in the starting XI for the fifth consecutive time in a Premier. Of those five meetings, in four he played every minute; a clear sign of his importance to United. Against Southampton, Mata was the ManU player with the best pass percentage (90%, like Phil Jones). He made three key passes, one of which, in the 4 minute, was about to end in Lukaku’s goal. Also in the first half (28 min), the Spaniard could score, but his shot was rejected by McCarthy´s leg.

With no time to regret the lost occasion, United looks ahead to the 1 of January, when they will face Everton at Goodison Park. The Premier does not give a break at Christmas, and ManU needs to win again as soon as possible.
