United out of the League Cup on penalties

Manchester United was booted in the Carabao Cup after a long round of penalties that qualified Derby County. Juan Mata opened the score, but the ‘red devils’, who played 25 minutes with 10 players, failed to secure the qualifying, lost on penalties.

Juan Mata opened the score in the 3 rd minute, finishing off Lingard´s pass with his left-foot, after a great action from Martial on the left. The first half had chances for both teams, but they reach the break with a slender 1-0.

In the second half, Lampard’s team showed that they were willing to achieve a historical win. Wilson levelled the game with a free-kick shortly before Romero was sent off by handling the ball out of the area. Marriot´s goal (1-2) near the end seemed secured the visitors place in the next round , but Fellaini took the game to penalties after a header in added time. In the final round, it took 15 penalties until Carson saved Jones´s attempt.

The next Manchester United challenge will be West Ham´s visit on Saturday in the 7th game-week of the Premier League.
