United Player of the Month for September

Juan Mata has been voted after playing a starring role in a busy few weeks for the Reds (three goals and three assists).

Mata started all six games across the period, helping his side to five wins with several decisive contributions. Juan scored three goals (against Southampton, Sunderland and Wolfsburg), while his three assists included a delightful backheeled flick to set up Chris Smalling for the winner against Wolfsburg.

That was enough to secure Mata the monthly award for the fourth time since his move from Chelsea in early 2014; he also scooped the accolade in February and April last year, and March this year.

Mata earned 44 per cent of the votes from fans on, beating off a strong challenge from Anthony Martial (42 per cent). Smalling (16 per cent) came third.
