A draw in Mata’s official debut

Galatasaray SK took a point from their visit to Adana Demirspor (0-0), in a duel between important teams of the league. Juan entered on the second half. The Spanish player, who was very active, forced Stambouli’s sending off.

After making his debut in the Galatasaray SK shirt in last Saturday’s friendly, in which he caused an excellent sensation, Juan Mata made his official debut with the Istanbul team. He entered the second part of the match against Adana Demirspor, held at the Yeni Adana Stadyumu, which ended in a goalless draw.

Juan’s involvement began in the 57th minute, when he came on for Bafétimbi Gomis, and it didn’t take him long to make a positive impact for his team. In minute 64, he forced Stambouli’s second yellow, giving way to more than half an hour of numerical superiority for Gatalasaray. A favorable situation that did not translate into victory against the defensive order of the team led by Vincenzo Montella.

At the end of the match, Mata showed a mixture of feelings: happy for his official debut, but dissatisfied with the result. “It was a tough game, against one of the best teams. They had passionate fans, which also made it very difficult for us,” said the Spanish international.

The tie leaves Galatasaray with 17 points, the same score as the leader (İstanbul Başakşehir). Okan Buruk’s team will rest next weekend, so they will not compete again until October 15 (against Kayserispor).
