Juan Mata, to the semifinals of the Europa League

The Spanish international played the last 20 minutes of Manchester United’s second leg against Granada (2-0). He wore the captain’s armband and will now seek, against Roma, to play his third final of this competition.

The first leg was very favourable, but Manchester United did not trust themselves and completed a great match at Old Trafford. The Red Devils beat Granada (2-0) in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie. They did it with Juan Mata’s presence, who came on the pitch in the second half.

The Spanish international replaced Bruno Fernandes in the 73rd minute and put on the captain’s armband. When he was on the pitch, he moved all over the offensive front and helped with defensive duties. Besides, he was the cause of Jesús Vallejo’s own goal. Cavani’s first goal in the 6th minute paved the way for United.

In this way, Mata is one step away from playing his third Europa League final. In the semifinals, Solskjaer’s team will face Roma, who beat Ajax. The first leg of the tie will be played on 29 April. For now, this Sunday, he will compete again at Old Trafford. United hosts Burnley on matchday 32 of the Premier League.
