In the traditional Boxing Day, Manchester United swept Newcastle aside at Old Trafford (4-1). The match, corresponding to game-week 19 of the Premier League, began with a setback for the locals. Matthew Longstaff put Steve Bruce’s team ahead in the 17th minute. With the defeat against Watford still recent, United was able to fight-back and overturned the score with forcefulness. In less than half an hour, Martial (24 and 51min), Greenwood (36min) and Rashford (42min) rounded the final result.

With 4-1, in the 68th minute, Juan Mata came on the pitch replacing Martial. In addition to his usual pass accuracy, the Spanish international showed his quality in two passes to Greenwood and Pogba that could have been the fifth goal for the Red Devils.
