The Red Devils nearly beat the leaders of the Premier, who had won all his matches in the competition. Lallana’s late goal levelled Rashford’s goal in the first half.
Manchester United ended Liverpool´s winning run in game-week 9 of the Premier League, although the draw at Old Trafford (1-1) did not leave them satisfied. Marcus Rashford took advantage of an excellent Daniel James´ cross to score the 1-0 in the 36th minute. His goal was the result of a good performance in the first half from ManU, who showed a great image against the Premier leaders.
After the break, Liverpool took the initiative of the match in search of the equaliser, but United defended well and could make more goals in the counterattack. As soon as the locals became less guarded the visiting team made the equaliser in the 85th minute thanks to Lallana. Liverpool, who were in search of their 9th consecutive win in the Premier, was about to be defeated at Old Trafford. The final 1-1, however, was a disappointment for the Red Devils, who had the victory very close.
The next ManU appointment will be next Thursday in the Europa League. Juan Mata and his team-mates travel to Belgrade to face Partizan, with the top of Group L at stake.
