Mata started in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa

Juan had a 96% pass accuracy against the team he scored his first goal as a Manchester United player (in 2014). On Wednesday he will play again at Old Trafford, against Mourinho’s Tottenham.

Manchester United and Aston Villa drew at Old Trafford (2-2) on game-week 14 of the Premier League. Juan Mata returned to the starting XI in an exciting match, in which he faced the team to whom he scored his first goal as a United player (March 29, 2014).

In the 11th minute, Jack Grealish made the 0-1 with a spectacular shot. The Red Devils looked for the equaliser the rest of the first half, and found it in the 42nd minute, with a header from Marcus Rashford that was deflected by Heaton before going in the visiting goal. Before the 1-1, Rashford himself had a good chance after a pass from Juan.

Manchester United culminated the comeback in the 64th minute, thanks to Victor Lindelöf goal, but the joy was short-lived. Tyrone Mings made the 2-2 in the 66. The score did not change despite the attempts of Solskjaer’s men.

During the 74 minutes he was on the pitch, Juan Mata successfully resolved 96% of his passes (he was the best in this statistic among the starting players of both teams). The 2-2 leaves United two points behind the qualifying positions for European competitions. The next game-week will be played in midweek. This Wednesday, Mourinho’s Tottenham will visit Old Trafford.
