Mata starts the American tour with a goal

United’s number 8 scored the equalizer against Club América in Phoenix. He also sent a shot to the post on the first half. Next match is due for Sunday against San Jose Earthquakes.

Juan Mata started the American tour in shape. Against Club América, on the first summer friendly of the Red Devils, the Spanish international scored Manchester United’s equalizer. The match, held on the University of Phoenix Stadium, ended with a 1-1 (Henry Martín scored for the Mexican team).

Juan, who was on the starting eleven, played nearly all the match. He was substituted for Angel Gomes on the 87′. On the first half he was very near scoring. He made a great move inside the box and sent a good left foot shot that hit the post. His second great intervention was on the 78′. He took advantage of a rejection after a header from Ander Herrera to score the final 1-1.

When the match concluded, Mata took some pictures with several fans and praised United’s youth team, that played the match. Man United’s next match will be on Sunday, against San Jose Earthquakes at the Levi’s Stadium of Santa Clara.
