Old Trafford holds the key to the last 8

United drew (0-0) in Sevilla in the first leg of the Champions League. Mata played most of the game and was ovationed by local fans when he was replaced. Juan played his 40 game in the continental competition (he has a record of seven goals and 13 assists).

Everything will be decided at Old Trafford. Manchester United, with Juan Mata in the starting XI and a magnificent De Gea, drew 0-0 at the Sanchez Pizjuán in the first leg of the knockout stage of the Champions League. It was a match of great intensity and physical contact. A game that Juan adapted perfectly, despite not being the most appropriate for his conditions. The stadium ovationed him when he was replaced by Martial in minute 79.

Mata was playing against a rival that was one of his favourites while he was playing for Valencia (three goals in seven games against the Seville team). Against Montella´s men, the Asturian was the Red Devil with more crosses (4) and, among the attacking players, the most effective in the pass (93% of success). He also contributed in defensive duties: intercepted the ball twice.

At the Pizjuán, Juan played his 40 match in the Champions League. In them he has a record of 7 goals and 13 assists. In other words, he has participated directly in one goal every two games. Numbers he hopes to extend in the second leg of the last 16, the next 13 March at Old Trafford.

The last 16 round, precisely, is his favourite tie in the European competition (four goals and three assists in 11 matches – four in the Champions League and seven in the Europa League). More specifically, in the second leg matches he has three goals and two assists in four games. And he does not know the defeat. Bad news for Sevilla.

The next challenge for ManU will be next Sunday at Old Trafford, against Chelsea. A special one for Juan Mata.
