Three points and an ovation

Manchester United wins Southampton at Old Trafford (2-0) and gets its second victory in the PL. Juan started the game and once again was important in both attack and defense. Old Trafford gave him a warm ovation when he left the pitch.

Two out of two for United. Juan Mata’s team edged out Southampton at Old Trafford (2-0) and confirmed its good start to the season. After beating Bournemouth, the Red Devils passed their first test of the Premier at home. Juan was again in the line-up. He was participative in attack and very active in defensive duties. His work was rewarded with a standing ovation when Mourinho replaced him for Mkhitaryan (75 minutes).

During his time on the pitch, Mata completed an 84% of his passes, shot once on goal and generated two chances for his team. He always was there to continue the game in the attack and was a threat from set pieces. One of his corners nearly resulted in another goal from Pogba. Click To Tweet

When the Southampton had the possession of the ball, his work was not too impressive, but he also was crucial. In the 58 minute Juan defended Redmond enough to prevent his dangerous shot to threat David de Gea. United stretched their lead 2-0, and was the way to prevent any problem in the last minutes. With six points, five goals scored and one goal conceded, ManU is leading the league in the absence of results on Saturday and Sunday.
