Juan Mata had a spectacular performance but United failed to break down Burnley´s wall (0-0). The Spanish made six shots (one of them hit the post), generated seven chances and ended with 100% accuracy in the pass. He wore the captain’s armband.
Football, occasionally, has no logic. Manchester United’s Juan Mata created enough offensive flow for thrashing Burnley at Old Trafford, but the 0-0 was maintained from start to finish. Juan´s performance, who wore the captain’s armband, deserves special attention. He took six shots, generated seven chances and did not miss a single pass (out of the 50 he tried). The post and Heaton´s excellent level denied United winning goal.

Heaton, the visitors’ keeper, was the hero of a match in which United tried to reach the goal in all possible ways. Juan took command of the offensive aspect of the Red Devils. He activated to Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Lingard or Rashford. The local team were close to victory over and over again, even with 10 players on the pitch.

The captaincy suits Mata very well. The first time he wore it, in March, decided the match with a sensational free kick. This time, he starred a recital that did not have an award in the end.
