United improvement in the second half ends without reward

Juventus won (0-1) at Old Trafford. It is the first ManU defeat in the Champions League. In the second half and with Juan Mata the local team was close to the draw.

Manchester United lost their first match in the Champions League. After a win over Young Boys and a draw with Valencia, the Red Devils lost at Old Trafford (0-1) against Juventus. A goal from Dybala in the 17th minute was decisive. ManU tried to equalise until the referee’s final whistle. Pogba, with a shot that rebounded off the post, had the best chance.

United improvement in the second half was, in part, due to Juan Mata´s influence. The Spanish international, who is going through a splendid form, was constantly offering his teammates in all areas of the pitch to give more fluency to the attack. Juan played the 90 minutes and was the ManU player with more accuracy in the pass (95%). In addition, he was the player (Juve included) who run the most distance during the game (12.52 km). The Asturian is able to stand out in any aspect of the game.

Despite the defeat, the tie between Young Boys and Valencia favors Mourinho’s team options. Right now, United are second in group H. The next appointment for Mata and his teammates will be on Sunday, against Everton at Old Trafford.
