Juan Mata’s United will be in Monday’s draw for the last 16 of the Europa League. With Mata in the lineup, Manchester beat Zorya Luhansk 0-2. It was the first european win away for United since November 2013.
Manchester United met their main target in Ukrainian soil. Juan Mata and his teammates edged out Zorya Luhansk 0-2, with goals from Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic, and secured their place in the last 16 of the Europa League. However, Fenerbahce’s victory denied United the first place of group A. The Red Devils finished just one point from the first place.
The victory, earned with authority, means a step forward in the new project development. Juan returned to the lineup and played 65 minutes. He was very proactive but the local defence closed any possible gap. Nevertheless, he starred one of the best quality actions in the first half when he, far from a clear angle, chipped the ball over the keeper missing by inches.
Awaiting to know the rival in the last 16 on Monday, Juan continues in a favorable tournament for him. United put an end to their bad run with a 0-2 victory. Since November 2013 United did not win in European competitions. Too much time for a historic club that tries to be back amongst the best in the continent.
